TIME TRIALS
The club is affiliated to the CTT (Cycling Time Trials)
We are also affiliated to the the local associations, such as the Southern Cycling Union, Sussex Cyclists' Association and also ESCA to offer members the full range of time trials in the local area.
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
With club time trials becoming more popular, this season demand has exceeded the authorised number of riders approved by the CTT.
We have been successful in obtaining approval of up to 35 riders on the Horsham - Crawley 10 course (G10/57) until the end of July, this should solve the problems we had on Tuesday 10th June 08.
However in August, due to the darker nights, the club may have to introduce half minute intervals to cope with demand.

HORSHAM CYCLING 2008 CLUB TIME TRIALS AND DOWNHILL COMPETITION
THE HANDICAP TROPHY
This will be awarded to the fastest first claim Club rider on a handicap basis. Each rider who wishes to compete for this trophy must have ridden four 10 mile races and two 14.6 mile races before the 22 July 2008. This can be any of the Club or Open events that we are holding.
The Time Trial sub-committee will then review the entrant’s times up to that date and give each rider a handicap. This will mean that the fastest Club rider at each distance will be given Scratch ie.(NO time allowance) for that distance and the slowest rider will be given a handicap time of, say +7minutes to reflect the fact that their qualifying time is 7 minutes slower than the scratch rider over the same distance
.
Each rider will then ride the 14.6 miles race on the 29th July and the 10 mile race on the 12th August, which will be the qualifying events for this trophy. The handicap allowance will then be removed from the times actually recorded and the rider with the fastest nett time over both races will be declared the winner.
Of course, riders who do not want to participate in the Handicap Trophy competition may still enter the qualifying events but in the case of over-
subscription, preference will be given to those who are in the running for the trophy.
SCRATCH TROPHY
This will be awarded to the first claim Club Member that produces the fastest aggregate time for a Club 10 miles and 14.6 miles race. All Club events count plus our 2 Open Time Trials.
VETERANS TROPHY
This will be awarded to the first claim Club Veteran Member (over 40) that produces the best aggregate plus against the VTTA/CTT standards for a Club 10 miles and 14.6 miles race. All Club events count plus our 2 Open Time Trials.
HILLCLIMB TROPHY
This will be awarded to the fastest first claim Club member in the Club Hill Climb on the 19th August 2008.
LADIES TROPHY
This will be awarded to the first claim Lady Club Member that produces the fastest aggregate time for a Club 10 miles and 14.6 miles race. All Club events count plus our 2 Open Time Trials.
SOCIAL GROUP DOWNHILL TROPHY
This will be awarded to the first claim Social Group Member that covers the greatest distance in the Social Group Downhill Competition to be held on the 28th September 2008. To qualify for this Competition members of the Club must have ridden with the Social Group on at least one occasion per month during the period from the 1st May until the 21st September 2008.
We hope that the rules are self-explanatory but if anyone requires any further information please ask Stewart Forbes, Mike Cross, Martin Simmonds or Peter Delve who will be pleased to help.
