Welcome to Horsham Cycling

This is our final reliability trial until the autumn. The riders have the choice of  three rides this time two directed and one self directed. There should be a ride that suits all our members.

The Rides

The Stopham Shuttle (directed)	33 miles	route sheet	mapmyride.com
The Western Spring Classic (directed)	53 miles	route sheet	mapmyride.com
Selsey Challenge (self directed)	85 miles

The two directed rides converge at the Pulborough Garden Centre Cafe which is the main checkpoint and both use the same route on the return leg back to Horsham. There are also a few information checkpoints along the way. 

The Selsey destination is the cafe at Selsey Bill.

Time standards and start times.

The HQ is the Forest School Youth Wing, Comptons Lane, Horsham which will be open from 8:15am

Entry fee is £2.                                Refreshments at finish

Please note that this event replaces our regular Sunday rides from the Carfax.

• Cranleigh Ride (approx 30miles) commencing 9:30am    Time standards : 2, 2.5 and 3 hours
• Hindhead Ride (approx 56 miles) commencing 09:00am Time standards : 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5 hours

A choice of two rides:

• Newhaven (approx 66 miles) commences at 9am - time standards, 5, 4.5 and 4 hours
• Wiston (approx 32 miles) commences 9.40am - time standards 3, 2.5 and 2 hours

The HQ is the Forest School Youth Wing, Comptons Lane, Horsham (see maps). Refreshments available at the finish.

Our recent reliability trial on Sunday 11th Oct was a great success. For the first time the Club offered a choice of three different distances to suit all ride groups.

A total of 45 riders took part, 30 from our own Club, others from the Crawley Wheelers, East Grinstead CC and a few guests. All rides converged at the main checkpoint at Washbrooks Farm, Hurstpierpoint. All rides then took the same route back to Horsham via Wineham Lane which was a long gradual never ending climb up to Warninglid. The majority completed the rides within their chosen time standard +/- 10 minutes, which we allow.

Thanks to Robert Skeet who did most of the work in planning the routes and preparing the route sheets. Also to Anne Maher for assisting with the registration at the start, to Mike Crossett as checker at Washbrooks Farm and finally to Karen McGovern for refreshments at the Forest Youth Wing.
