Our club is welcoming to all types of rider, from leisure cyclist to competitive racer. Seven groups meet at the Carfax every Sunday morning, each with different speeds and distances in mind.

Horsham is surrounded by fantastic Sussex countryside and quiet roads. The club is a great way of discovering new routes, making friends and perhaps opening yourself to new cycling challenges.

You can join us for a ride or two without being a member, why not give us a try? See the rides page for more details.

The Canterbury Canter - Saturday/Sunday 18/19 April - Report.

canterbury-start-apr15What a glorious weekend for our 170 mile round trip to Canterbury. From what I could tell, all enjoyed their rides very much and the countryside we passed through...and not least the food and social chat on Saturday evening. Thank you to Ali Bruce for all your efforts.

John Chaplin, Chairman.

The Canterbury Canter - Saturday/Sunday 18/19 April.

This year’s Spring Tour will be on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th April. We will ride out from Horsham to Canterbury, stay the night and then return the next day. Canterbury is a distance of approximately 80 miles. For an all day ride, this distance should be achievable for most members.

Please click here for more information.

We do need to confirm the booking before the end of January. So if you are interested could you please email me and make payment preferably by PayPal on the Club’s website. If we don’t book things early, they tend to disappear.

Finally, if I haven’t sold this idea to you yet, remember, you will be able to tell everyone that you’ve been to University! So please reply ASAP so that I can get an idea of the numbers.

Thanks

Club Clothing - New Order - By 15 April.

We will shortly be placing our annual clothing order with Endura. If anyone is waiting for a particular item, please let me know to help in compiling the order. As we don't tend to stock so much in S and XL sizes it would be really good if you could let me know of anything wanted in these sizes by April 15th. This years order will include all the normal items and also some winter jackets.

This will be the only opportunity this year for anyone wanting a Club skin suit. They are £75 plus VAT and we need at least three to be ordered to satisfy the minimum number requirements. For these, the Club will need the cost to be paid with the order.  http://www.endurasport.com/custom/products/custom-product-detail.asp?ProductID=453

See 'Club Clothing' under 'Club' section on website for full details of current stock held at our distributor, ADC Bicycle Store.

Bike Maintenance Evening - Get Me Home - Tuesday 31 March.

brokenchainWe have had a good response so I am pleased to confirm we will be running this event on Tuesday 31 March 19:30 to 21:30 at the Forest School Youth Wing, Comptons Lane, Horsham RH13 5NT.

A small panel of members with loads of experience has been lined up to help on the evening. Closer to the date I will advise on the type of problems we will be covering. Please email me if you will be attending.

Spring Reliability Trial Sunday 29 March - Report.

Despite the wet and windy weather, 32 hardy riders turned out to ride our event.

This was made up of 26 HC members and six from Crawley Wheelers. Twenty one riders opted for the 56 mile 'The Isfield Challenge' to the Lavender Line Station, Isfield, East Sussex, while 11 chose the 33 mile route of 'The Stopham Shuttle', to the Pulborough Garden Centre at Stopham.

The rain did not appear to be as bad as forecast for most of the cyclists, but the ride was hard for many, especially for those returning from Isfield.

Also some feedback from Isfield. The cafe at the Lavender Line station was great value!

Riders started arriving back at the Forest School Youth Wing at 12.30pm. All enjoyed the Bruce family home baking over a cuppa.

Thanks to Colin Ferry for timing the event and to Ali and family for the spread of delicious cakes.

The next Reliability Trial will be in the autumn, date to be confirmed.
