Welcome to Horsham Cycling

Our club is welcoming to all types of rider, from leisure cyclist to competitive racer. Seven groups meet at the Carfax every Sunday morning, each with different speeds and distances in mind.

Horsham is surrounded by fantastic Sussex countryside and quiet roads. The club is a great way of discovering new routes, making friends and perhaps opening yourself to new cycling challenges.

You can join us for a ride or two without being a member, why not give us a try? See the rides page for more details.

Club Hill Climb Competition Sunday 26 October 2014 - 10.00.

This will take place on a private road within the Denbies Wine Estate, Dorking RH5 6AA. We are very grateful to Denbies for letting us use their road (free of charge) and hopefully we can all congregate after the event in their restaurant for coffee/cake.

We must be off the hill by 11.00 so we will commence the event at 10.01 with the last rider starting at 10.30. The field will be limited to 30 riders so it would be sensible to pre-enter by 17.00 Saturday 25th to secure a place. Email - This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it -. Entry fee £3.

Autumn Reliability Trial Sunday 28 September - Report.

For our first reliability trial of the season the weather was certainly kind to us. More like August weather.

Ali Bruce, Colin Ferry and I were at the Forest School Youth Wing before 08:30 to set up for the event. Ali and his good wife Alyson had started baking earlier in the week so that there would be a good selection of cakes for the riders at the finish. Within minutes of us arriving, members started to sign on for the rides. We had a large group from the Crawley Wheelers as well as a few guests and a couple of potential new HC members.

The breakdown of the rides were as follows:
Goodwood Gallop 69 miles: 4 hours - 7 HC & 4 CW. 4½ hours - 15 HC & 6 CW.
Wealden Challenge 45 miles: 2¾ hours - 2 HC. 3 hours - 6 HC & 1 CW.
Washbrooks Ride 33 miles: 3 hours - 10 HC & 3 guests.

The first riders started arriving back at the Youth Wing by 12:20 and before long the place was busy with everyone chatting about their rides. Ali worked hard serving teas and coffees and scrumptious home baking as people arrived.

Thanks to Colin Ferry for the time keeping, to Ali and Alyson for the excellent cakes.

Time Trial Competitions - Results.

With only the Hill Climb on October 26th at Denbies Wine Estate, Dorking to be competed for, most of our Competitions have now been decided.

Firstly, I would like to thank the members who help us with the Racing effort every year and without whom we couldn't race. In particular Stewart Forbes our Competition Secretary, Colin Ferry and Mike Cross for timing, Coralie Clarke for preparing and updating all the results spreadsheets and Malcolm Curtis, Jim Kerr and Rob Haigh who turn out most weeks and help us with a combination of pushing off, spotting and timing as well. Jim Evans still masterminds our signage and to Jim and his team of signers many thanks as well. Plus all those who marshalled or helped at the HQ in our Open we would also like to say thank you.
