Welcome to Horsham Cycling

Our club is welcoming to all types of rider, from leisure cyclist to competitive racer. Seven groups meet at the Carfax every Sunday morning, each with different speeds and distances in mind.

Horsham is surrounded by fantastic Sussex countryside and quiet roads. The club is a great way of discovering new routes, making friends and perhaps opening yourself to new cycling challenges.

You can join us for a ride or two without being a member, why not give us a try? See the rides page for more details.

Christmas Dinner and Awards Evening - Report.

Another excellent evening at the Rookwood Golf Club enjoyed by almost 50 members.

Congratulations to all the Trophy and Plaque winners.

The Club Person of the Year and Chain Line Award Trophies deservedly won by Ali Bruce and Robbie Calder respectively. Ali won the award for his efforts in a number of events during 2014, including organising the Tour of Isle of Wight weekend – and providing excellent cake baking at the post Reliability Trial rides. Robbie's article about his epic ride "London-Edinburgh-London 1400km (850 miles) with a time limit of 116 hours!" in the October issue of Chain Line was great reading.

A big thanks to Coralie Clarke for her excellent organisation and for all the members who donated a generous £168 for the Dave Rayner Fund.

Peter Delve, Chairman.

Christmas Dinner and Awards Evening - Thursday 11 December.

The Christmas Dinner and Awards evening will be held on Thursday 11th December at The Warnham Barn, Rookwood Golf Club, Robin Hood Lane, Horsham - 19:00 for 19:30 start.

The seating plan worked well last year so I will do the same again this year. Each table will seat either 8 or 10 people, depending on numbers. So if there is someone you would particularly like to sit with, please let me know when booking so I can do my best to keep everyone happy. I won't be able to do last minute changes as the table plans will be determined in advance for Rookwood, so you need to let me have this information up-front.

You can opt for 2 courses (£17) or 3 courses (£23); these prices also include coffee and mints. The Club is providing a subsidy of £5 a head which will cover the cost of some of the food as well as the tip. Drinks are not included and will need to be paid for on the night. Click here for the full menu, choose what you would like to eat and email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it by 19th November. Payment in full is by Paypal (see Event Payment on the bottom right hand side on the front page of the website) or by cheque payable to Horsham Cycling (for those who don't have Paypal). Sorry - no refunds for non-attendance.

Coralie Clarke, Organiser.

Winter Reliability Trial Sunday 23 November - Report.

The weather was not favourable for the rides to Newhaven, Shoreham Airport and Wiston.

However, 20 hardy riders, not afraid of the wet, turned up at Forest School Youth Wing. Sixteen from our Club and four from Crawley Wheelers.

The Newhaven ride attracted 5 riders, Adrian Allen, Philip van der Veen and Ray Watson in five hours with Alejandro de Hoz and Stuart Papworth in 4 hours, who all reported it was exceptionally hard near the coast due to the strong winds.  Shoreham was the most popular destination with 12 riders participating including our four Crawley Wheeler friends. Finally, three members opted for the short ride to Wiston.  Well done to all those brave riders to turned out.  It was also good to see Alfie Ramsay, Alan Dolan and Sabina Hickmet turn up for a chat and sample some of the Bruces' home baking.

Thanks to Owen Drake for timing the event, Cliff Eastwood for registering the riders, and to Ali and Alyson for their home baking.  Also a big thank you for Alfie for mopping up the wet floor of the youth wing.

Our next RT is on Sunday 18 January with destinations to Hindhead and Washington.  Hopefully the weather will be kind to us.

Stewart Forbes, Competitions Secretary.
