Welcome to Horsham Cycling

Our club is welcoming to all types of rider, from leisure cyclist to competitive racer. Seven groups meet at the Carfax every Sunday morning, each with different speeds and distances in mind.

Horsham is surrounded by fantastic Sussex countryside and quiet roads. The club is a great way of discovering new routes, making friends and perhaps opening yourself to new cycling challenges.

You can join us for a ride or two without being a member, why not give us a try? See the rides page for more details.

This will take place again on the private road within the Denbies Wine Estate, Dorking RH5 6AA. We are very grateful to Denbies for letting us use their road (free of charge) and hopefully we can all congregate after the event in their restaurant for coffee/cake.

It would be appreciated if ride leaders could plan their rides to go via Denbies so members can spectate and cheer their Club mates on.

We must be off the hill by 11.00 so we will commence the event at 10.01 with the last rider starting at 10.30. The field will be limited to 30 riders so it would be sensible to email me to pre-enter by 17.00 Saturday 10th to secure a place. Entry fee £3.

The hill is to the LHS of the main building. Signing on will take place from 9.30am.

Belgium Weekend - Saturday/Sunday 3/4 October - Report.

A record attendance with 20 members making the trip.

Saturday's short afternoon ride was around Ypres taking in the mighty cobbled climb of the Kemmelberg before a return through the Menin Gate. Though similar to last year's route the weather was decidedly better this time with glorious sunshine demanding short sleeves. Then we were on our way to Lille and our hotel. Another great evening meal followed at the La Fossetta restaurant before most headed to bed by midnight.

Sunday's ride with the VC Mouscron was a flatter but longer 58 miles route than the previous two years. The day started with fog but within an hour we had glorious blue skies. Unfortunately ALL of us were confused by the signposting and ended up riding 46 miles. So an early finish, however, we enjoyed beers in the sunshine outside the HQ which looked reminiscent of a mini beer festival with other riders also enjoying the beer/sun.

The trip was enjoyed by all and there were many shouts for two nights next time - apparently so we can get more miles in!

Isle of Wight Weekend - Friday-Sunday 18/20 September - Report.

iow2015Another wonderful weekend with 23 in attendance for our stay at The Clifton, Shanklin. A large number rode down on Friday and back on Sunday. This made for a lot of miles over the weekend. Unlucky for Arun that he had problems with his chain and had to turn back.

The Saturday rides took the usual route around the island, with tea stops along the way, before all meeting up at the Seven Bistro, Brighstone for lunch. The groups then split with most going back via Godshill for a tea/ice cream stop but four went down to the esplanade at Ventnor for ice cream.

Once back at Shanklin, seven hardy souls jumped in the sea for a refreshing swim. Then it was a lovely meal at Pavarotti's Italian Restaurant. The elders of the club (the usual suspects) staying out late for even more refreshments!

We had superb weather and as always, it was a great social event.

Ali Bruce, Social.
