Welcome to Horsham Cycling

Our club is welcoming to all types of rider, from leisure cyclist to competitive racer. Seven groups meet at the Carfax every Sunday morning, each with different speeds and distances in mind.

Horsham is surrounded by fantastic Sussex countryside and quiet roads. The club is a great way of discovering new routes, making friends and perhaps opening yourself to new cycling challenges.

You can join us for a ride or two without being a member, why not give us a try? See the rides page for more details.

Events Report.

Another busy few months at HC in addition to our normal Sunday group rides and time trial events.

The annual post-ride lunch on 6th July at The Warnham Barn, Rookwood Golf Course was well attended and a BBQ enjoyed in good weather. Thanks to Sabina Hickmet for once again organising this event.

A week later another Dunwich Dynamo trip, once again HC logistics organised by Stewart Forbes, with Ali Bruce and Jim Evans as drivers of the bike van and mini bus. Our thanks go to all three. It was good to see members still continue to sign up for this 115 mile night ride for the first time as well as the regulars. Congratulations to Dave Homewood and Malcolm Rowe for completing their charity cycle ride back to London, forsaking the luxury of a bus trip home.

The Isle of Wight trip in September, our ninth, was again well attended and this year we saw a record number, 18, cycling to Shanklin on the Friday, in addition to four joining later. Ali Bruce took over the organising of this event and transporting the luggage to and from the hotel, and relieved of this task meant I was able to get some extra cycle miles in on both the Friday and Sunday which was very enjoyable. Thank you Ali for all your efforts.

Finally, another Mouscron Belgium October weekend, this time organised by Steve Strickland. Again members joining up for the first time as well as the regulars, 16 in total enjoying cycling over the two days. Thank you Steve.

For all these events the number of members who have enjoyed these extra Club activities at least once increases and for others they have became a permanent feature of their Horsham Cycling year.

The arrangements for the Christmas Dinner and Awards evening on Thursday 11th December were announced in e.news last Sunday and are now also on our website. I look toward to seeing as many of our members as possible celebrate another successful year in Horsham Cycling. Coralie Clarke is organising this event and I would like to thank her for taking this task on once again.

Peter Delve, Chairman.

Five years young!

Horsham Cycling has just celebrated it's 5th anniversary in style. Following our normal Sunday run members wined and dined in glorious spring sunshine at the Sussex Barn on Rookwood golf course.

During our five years we've collectively ridden a distance equivalent to 2500 laps of the M25 or 230,000,000 wheel revolutions! We've enjoyed the Sunday rides, the racing, social events and weekends away - whilst making friends, keeping fit and having fun. Many things have changed during this time and the membership has grown significantly, but our motto remains unchanged - cycling for all.
