Winter Reliability Trial Report

winterrt

Since the middle of the week we had been on weather watch for Reliability Trial rides as a low depression "Storm Angus" was developing out in the Atlantic. As it turned out the worst of the storm hit overnight into Sunday morning, but luckily the worst of the weather had cleared in time for the event which resulted in 28 riders participating.

Riders started rolling into the Forest Youth Wing around 8.50am looking to sign on for the Newhaven ride, of which Tony Brown (HC) took part along with three guests from the Crawley Wheelers. They all opted for the 4 ½ hour time standard and make it back 10 minutes early! (with time to spare for coffee in Newhaven)

We had 12 members opting for the Shoreham ride all choosing the 3 ¼ hour time standard with the majority making it back within the time despite the harder than usual riding conditions.

Finally, we had three fast guys choosing the Cranleigh 2 hour ride who made it back within 5 minutes of the time, without stopping for a tea/coffee.

The social riders selected the 3 hour ride which gave them sufficient time for a restful break at the Notts Garden Centre.

All enjoyed socialising with their Club mates over hot drinks and delicious home baking back at the HQ.

Thanks to all that help back at the you wing. In particular, Malcolm Curtis for time keeping, Cliff Baker, registration, John Fry & Dave Scott with the washing up. Ali Bruce for assisting me with tidying and locking up.

A very special thanks to our home bakers, Stewart Salt, Martine Burke, and Tony Banbury.

The next RT is on Sunday 15th January 2017 with rides to Hindhead and Washington.
